Installation specification context

Where the time and material savings come from.

This comparison explains the field workflow behind the TRU-BOX installation advantage, from the traditional multi-enclosure method to a consolidated single-enclosure approach.

Traditional method

Multiple enclosures and repeated conduit work

With the traditional method of installing electrical enclosures, conduit pipes are first brought into a distribution enclosure from either below grade or overhead. From there, installers must measure, cut, and fit individual conduit sections between the distribution enclosure and a separate junction enclosure. After that, additional conduit pieces must be measured, cut, spaced, and installed from the junction enclosure to each individual receptacle or end device.

While this is standard practice, it is extremely labor-intensive. Every conduit section requires measuring, cutting, deburring, fitting, and fastening. In addition, the installation requires multiple enclosures, conduit, couplings, connectors, mounting hardware, and other fittings. Not only do these material costs add up quickly, but the labor required to assemble and install everything is often the largest expense.

TRU-BOX method

One enclosure with fewer field steps

Our proposed enclosure eliminates the need for most of these components and installation steps. Instead of requiring a distribution box, a junction box, multiple conduit runs, and all associated fittings, our design consolidates these functions into a single enclosure. This significantly reduces installation time, lowers labor costs, decreases material requirements, and minimizes opportunities for installation errors.

Fewer enclosure assembliesLess conduit measuring and fittingLower material requirementsFewer opportunities for field errors
Prototype results

Substantial savings across repeated locations

During our prototype installations, we consistently experienced time savings of approximately 60% to 75% compared to traditional installation methods. These results demonstrate the substantial labor savings contractors can achieve, especially on projects with multiple outlets and enclosure locations.

Finished outcome

Cleaner work for contractors and owners

Beyond the cost and time savings, the finished installation is much cleaner and more professional in appearance. Contractors benefit from a faster, simpler installation process, while owners receive a more streamlined and aesthetically pleasing finished product.
